Deacons

Our Board of Deacons provides an assertive ministry of sympathy, witness, service and prayer following the example of Jesus Christ. To do this, they respond to individual needs, joys, and concerns, seek to strengthen the bond of Christian community within our congregation, and extend the hand of Christian fellowship to our community and the world.

Deacons show care and concern for our parishioners and the local community in a variety of ways, including:

  • Oversee local mission expenditures.  The local mission account for 2006 was $14,432;below is a list of organizations who received funds last year.

  • Lead the congregation in local mission projects (for example: "Project Merry Christmas"

  • Sponsor occasional potlucks, picnics.

  • Visit shut-ins. (Send cards, take tapes of worship services, etc.)

  • Provide support to members at the time of a crisis. Arrange for meals for a family during a crisis such as a death or hospitalization.

  • Contact those who have not been active in recent months to see if there are any specific problems.
